Will EV charging stations soon be in demand?
Canada and the world are seeing a steady rise in Electric Vehicle (EV) numbers from their gas-powered counterparts, and rightly so. GHG emissions are ‘sky high’ and global warming poses a serious threat – one that can cause irreversible damage if not brought at bay. Citizens and the government have understood this and Canada now has a goal to achieve 100% zero-emission vehicle sales by 2035. But how enroute are we to achieving this target? Let’s see the current scenario to determine the answer.
Current Scenario – EV Sales and EV Charging Installations
Despite COVID-19 causing a global chip shortage and other supply chain issues, the EV market grew by 104%+ year-on-year (YoY). Canadian EV numbers, too, increased by a whopping 4.2% from 2021-2022. EVs are becoming the average citizen’s primary vehicle, and the government is supporting them completely by accelerating the installation of EV charging infrastructure.
Country Investment
- Govt. Of Canada is investing $2M for 260 new EV chargers in Alberta. They will be installed in public places, on streets, and at recreation centers.
- Ontario is investing $91M to install EV charging stations at highway rest stops, carpool parking lots, parks and hockey arenas.
Companies invested
- Indigenous Clean Energy, a not-for-profit organization, is going to install 25 EV charging stations throughout the country! They have got $316,250 of funding from NRCan.
- Windsor is getting a $4.9B investment for an EV battery plant, making the city a major player in the auto industry.
- General Motors and Posco Chemical are working with Govts. of Canada & Quebec to build a $400 million EV battery component facility in Bécancour.
- SaskPower is investing $2M to build about 20 Level 3 EVSE along major Saskatchewan corridors, including Highway 11 and 16.
This is certainly an exciting period in Canadian history as EV and EV charging station numbers surge. But what does 2022 have in store for them? Scroll down to know more!
What 2022 has in store for EVs and EV Charging Stations
Research shows that global EV numbers will increase by 9M+ this decade; energy demand for EVs might exceed 50 billion kWh by 2030, too! However, surveys conducted bring us to the conclusion that many people keen on purchasing EVs refrain from doing so due to the lack of Level 3 charging stations. This year, we could see:
- EV Chargers – A plan to build a national network of Level 2 and Level 3 charging stations – something that should greatly increase the demand for EVs.
- EV Infrastructure – Private properties like hotels, condominiums, and business spaces installing EV charging stations to increase their revenue and improve air quality.
- EV innovation – An improvement in smart charging solutions so that EVs can communicate with EV charging stations in a jiffy.
- EV Technology – EV owners charging their vehicles across the country without a mobile app or membership card.
- EVs pre-loaded with vehicle to everything (V2X) – cutting-edge technology that will enable drivers to get real time traffic updates at EV charging stations.
- EV development – The launch of heavier vehicles like small trucks in a new, all electric avatar. Eg: Ford F-150 Electric Lightning and Rivian Automotive RT1.
Property managers and business owners must capitalize on these opportunities and install EV charging stations. You can benefit in many ways; however, you need to know about the hurdles, too, and we’ve got you covered. Click here to know more.
While there are many EV charging station providers throughout Canada, few can compete with EnerSavings. We’ll tell you all about our EV charging stations below.
EnerSavings EV Charging Stations – Plug into the Future!
EnerSavings – also known as Canada’s leading energy management company – provides turnkey EV charging solutions to businesses across the country. We do this by understanding the most common problems:
- High upfront cost of $9,000+ per EV charging station
- Lack of infrastructure to build and install EV charging stations
- High operating costs of EV charging stations to businesses and condominiums
- Limited electric capacity provided to each building
- Inability to benefit from Government incentives
Our solutions are industry-leading and ingenious:
- Hassle-free Monthly Subscription Plan
We understand that $9,000+ multiplied by the number of EV charging stations isn’t feasible for many businesses and hence, offer a subscription plan of $99 / month. - It is fully transferable to new condominium owners
- Our 2 year contract means that you have no long-term commitment; this can be cancelled after the 1st year without a penalty or cancellation fee
- Maintenance and servicing costs are included in this price
- Intelligent Energy Management Systems (EMS)
Energy rates and billing structures tend to change over time. When increased, EV charging station owners will have to pay more to charge their vehicles…not with our intelligent EMS! - Real-time electricity management ensures your costs are minimized as you don’t pay peak load charges
- This is because they throttle chargers down during peak usage, and up at off-peak times
- They control other discretional energy loads like fans and pumps to lower your overall energy bill
- Rebate Experts
We specialize in getting each client the maximum possible rebate, and take care of the end-to-end process, too! - We have partnered with local utility companies and handle everything from pre-approval to post-submission, and incentive dollars get deposited directly to your account
- With the NRCan EV Charging Incentive Program, you can get up to 50% of the total project cost of maximum $5,000,000 and up to $2,000,000 for delivery organizations.
- $2.5M incentives have been delivered to 200+ customers already
